Purpose of the Role

This Client Partner role will be leading the relationship with one of the world’s biggest and most famous retailers, and one our longest dentsu clients, IKEA.

This client leadership role will encompass responsibility for the day-to-day & communications planning output, managing the end-to-end campaign process for IKEA alongside their partner agencies. This role will lead a diverse and successful team of Planning Directors, Planning Managers and Planning Executives.

This role would be an ideal next step for an experienced Account Director, or someone already at Business Director / Client Partner level looking for a new challenge.

Key Responsibilities

  • Driving transformative business results for IKEA, resulting in client retention and satisfaction whilst ensuring commercial growth.

  • Developing a deep understanding of the IKEA business, communication model, and lead the planning output, supporting the Planning Directors in day-to-day management of the client.

  • Be a trusted advisor to IKEA, seen as a strategic partner and leader of IKEA’s business and delivering on their transformative comms plan.

  • Championing iProspect’s experimentation agenda and ensuring team adoption of our Intersections Planning process to deliver effective & forward-looking communications plans alongside outstanding client service - this is a critical element in delivering on our client’s expectations.

  • Work hand-in-hand and have a leading voice with IKEA’s partner agencies, primarily Mother, to ensure our strategies are aligned, deadlines hit, responses are integrated, and the work is best positioned to answer client and media objectives.

  • Executing commercial management of the IKEA account alongside the Managing Partner, including ownership of client contract, optimisation of the people/FTE plan to match requirements, forecasting of secured revenue, cost base, opportunity pipe for IKEA, and operational finance excellence.

  • Demonstrate team leadership, managing the client service team effectively by ensuring expectations are set and clearly communicate with internal and external stakeholders, whilst cultivating and championing a positive and healthy team culture

  • Directly line manager your team and take responsibility and care for their career development.

Qualifications + Skills

  • Extensive experience and understanding of media and advertising - working on integrated marketing campaigns, primarily across above-the-line brand and performance clients.

  • Experience in advising/creating detailed media plans for a multimillion-pound billing client.

  • Proven experience of collaborating with partner agencies.

  • A track record of generating revenue for your agency and market-leading work for your clients through your ability to see situations from a commercial perspective.

  • Great interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build strong and lasting relationships with clients. 

  • Strong negotiation skills and experience - able to explain and sell value adding products to clients and act with diplomacy.

  • A trusted client adviser with strong people management experience and skills.

  • The team is based in our London office but operates under flexible working arrangements, and this role will include roughly fortnightly travel to IKEA’s Wembley office.
